My name is Hanna, but they call me Hania, Hanka, as I always say, as long as the "H" is at the beginning 🙂 I love beauty in all its forms. Beauty in nature, in the view out the window, in architecture and its exquisite details, in paintings painted with a flourish and bold strokes, the beauty hidden in the shape and scent of a strawberry. I love this sense of wonder and celebration of what surrounds us. I also love the taste, oh the taste! The sound of fresh bread being sliced, when that crispy crust bends under the pressure of the knife. And that slice of fresh bread with butter, and then you think to yourself, is there anything better in the world? And the smell of coffee, of course! Because what would a morning be without the smell of coffee and its bittersweet taste? For me, the best time is when I'm walking through Krakow with my delicious morning coffee, passing those old tenement houses that tell their own stories, those wonderful portals, carved doors, hidden stained glass windows, and sometimes chestnut leaves. That's when I feel like living 🙂
I'd like to share such beauty and these moments with you. I'd like to take you on this journey, whether culinary or around Kraków.
I was born in Kraków and have a long family tradition in the arts. My grandfather was a master metalworker, and you can still find his works in Krakow's churches and tenement houses. My grandmother played a significant role in the founding of the Krakow Historical Museum. My mother ran an art gallery, and my beloved neighbour - “grandma”, was a painter and stained glass designer.
In such circumstances, it was hard not to fall in love with art. I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. I completed postgraduate museum curatorial studies in contemporary art at the Jagiellonian University.
For several years, I worked at the BB Gallery in Kraków. After moving to Amsterdam for a few years, I joined The Beach Organisation Foundation, managing projects such as the Kindermuseum project. After returning to Kraków, I worked at the Kraków MuWi (Stained Glass Museum) as a guide and museologist. For several years, I was involved with the Kraków festival of Jewish culture and art: FestivALT.
The kitchen has always been an important and special place in my home, so it was here that my love for cooking was born. For several years, I cooked and hosted guests from the Eataway portal, where I gained practical experience in managing and feeding a large group of people 🙂
lived in Amsterdam for several years, and my husband is Dutch, so I am fluent in English and understanding of foreigners! I'll also speak Dutch with you, and if you give me a moment, Spanish.
And why the bike? The bike, my first love, the best way to get around the city, the wind in my hair and a sense of freedom—what more can I say! For several years, I was involved with the Kraków cycling community and coordinated the Kraków Cycling Festival.
Slow Kraków with Hanna is a project that combines all my passions and experiences, all my life paths, and merges them into one. It's a desire to celebrate the beauty of the city, its architecture, its moments, and its flavours. I hope this is a path you'll gladly take for a walk with me 🙂
